Board Governance
The Cook & Bynum Fund is organized as a non-diversified series of the Cook & Bynum Funds Trust. The affairs of the Trust are managed by a Board of Trustees.
Interested Trustees
Richard P. Cook
Mr. Cook co-founded Cook & Bynum Capital Management in 2001, alongside J. Dowe Bynum. Before forming the firm, he worked for Tudor Investment Corporation in Greenwich, Connecticut. Richard attended Hampden-Sydney College where he graduated summa cum laude in three years with a B.S. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Economics and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Mr. Cook has served as a Trustee of the Trust since November 2020.
David A. Hobbs Jr.
Mr. Hobbs currently serves as Chief Financial Officer & Chief Investment Officer for EBSCO Industries, Inc. in Birmingham, AL. He has more than two decades of experience spanning commercial banking, investment banking, and private and public market investing. Prior to joining EBSCO, Mr. Hobbs was President and a Partner of Cook & Bynum Capital Management. Prior to joining Cook & Bynum, he was a principal at Founders Advisors, a boutique merchant banking firm focused on merger & acquisition advisory and niche direct investing. He also previously worked as a financial analyst in the corporate finance groups of investment bank Robertson Stephens and commercial bank Wachovia. He received an M.B.A. from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University and attended Hampden-Sydney College, where he was valedictorian of his class and graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Economics. While at Hampden-Sydney, David was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and captain of the basketball team.
Mr. Hobbs has served as a Trustee of the Trust since August 2021.
Independent Trustees
Bruce F. Rogers
Mr. Rogers has been a Partner with the law firm of Bainbridge, Mims, Rogers & Smith LLP since January 1990. He has extensive experience in a variety of law practice areas, such as shareholder and business litigation, government investigations, estate and trust matters, and insurance coverage issues. Mr. Rogers graduated from Vanderbilt School of Law, where he served as Managing Editor of the Law Review.
Mr. Rogers has served as a Trustee of the Trust since May 2009.
Charles H. Ogburn
Mr. Ogburn is a retired investment banker, a corporate director, and community volunteer. He has over 30 years of experience in the investment management and investment banking industries and possesses an understanding of the regulatory framework under which investment companies must operate. Mr. Ogburn has also served as a member of the Board of Directors for Crawford & Company since 2010.
Mr. Ogburn has served as a Trustee of the Trust since May 2010.
Donald P. Carson
Mr. Carson has over 50 years of commercial banking, investment banking, investment management, real estate management, and tax and estate planning experience. He has been the Managing Director of The Ansley Capital Group LLC since 1999. Mr. Carson has also been a Principal of both Ansley Securities LLC and Don Carson Associates LLC since 1999 and 2013, respectively. Mr. Carson has been President of RFA Management Company LLC and and LOR, Inc. since 2019. Carson also has served as a director of Rollins, Inc. since July 2021. Prior to Ansley, Carson served for 20 years in various executive positions with Wachovia Corporation of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was President and Chief Executive Officer of Wachovia Capital Markets, Inc., a predecessor to what is today Wells Fargo Advisors and an Executive Vice President of Wachovia Bank, N.A. responsible for the firm’s international banking activities.
Mr. Carson has served as a Trustee of the Trust since April 2014.
